For any parent the thought that our child choking is a scary one. As parents we make sure not to have small toys in our home, we cut food in just the right size but what if it does happen? Will you be ready? Do you have the life saving tool to help save your child while you wait for help to arrive? And have you ever stopped to consider it may not be your child that chokes, but there is also the possibility you or your partner, or even a guest? No matter who it is, the event is a scary one for everybody present.
This week we have teamed up with ihelpmom and Life Vac to bring you a review to a product every parent should own. This review is our own opinion, please see our disclosure for more information.
I have been blessed never to have needed Life Vac first hand. But in the blink of an eye I know it could happen. I jumped at the opportunity to review Life Vac because, as a mother of five, I know the importance of safety. I want to know that if my child ever chokes I will be prepared.
Since its release Life Vac has saved 12 lives, been in 5 medical journal entries, and 1 peer review study thus far.
In 2015, 5,051 people died from choking. Out of those 2,848 were older than 74 according to Injury Facts 2017. Can you imagine all the lives it can save by being in homes like yours?
Regardless of your age choking hazards exist for everyone. Foods such as hot dogs, hard or sticky candy, popcorn, grapes and etc. can all be choking hazards. Small objects such as coins, buttons, and toys with small pieces can all call the attention of small children.
Some precautions to take include not eating in the car. I know I am guilty of doing this, being a busy mom always on the run. Vegetables should be cooked and cut into small pieces. Hot dogs should be cut length wise and then width wise, imagine the shape or half-moon or quarter moon.
Some health conditions like Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS and Alzheimer’s disease commonly cause problems with swallowing, and thus choking. Watching for signs of choking including coughing or gagging, clutching throat or pointing to throat and suddenly being unable to talk. If you see any of these signs grab your Life Vac to help.
Imagine something so simple simply place, push, and pull. Just those 3 simple steps may save someone’s life. Life Vac is non-invasive and registered with the FDA. Upon receiving my box I wanted to read all the information I could about the product. What made it special?
The first thing I noticed was it had three masks. One of the masks was marked “test” which was a bonus for me. I like to be able to test and get an idea for how a product works before I need to use it. Can I get an “Amen”? The easy to read instructions helped me get the mask attached to unit with a simple twist and a little pressure. I also used one of the kids dolls to help demonstrate. It was super easy to use.
While I hope never to have the need of it, I am so happy to have this in our home.
I honestly believe that every family should have a Life Vac in their home, and to teach the entire family how to use it. We never think this will happen to us but why wait until it does to be prepared? LifeVac is affordable only $69.95 for a Home Kit.
Of course we have a discount for you just enter “ihelpmoms” at checkout.
